Embarking on any training course can be expensive especially if you are paying for it yourself so it’s not something to be taken lightly. NEBOSH is no different in that respect, but there is some financial help available for adult learners in the UK provided you meet the criteria of each scheme.

UK Grants Available for NEBOSH Courses

Here are some of the grants available for NEBOSH courses in the UK:

CITB Construction Skills Grant

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has funding available for the National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety (NCC). The CITB’s short-period qualification grant covers only the NCC. This grant is available for companies in construction that are registered with the CITB, so check if your employer is CITB registered. Your company can then apply for the grant. The short-period qualification grant has its own rules. You can claim £600 for the NCC. You claim through your CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO), supplying them with the relevant details of the person taking the qualification. When the NCC is completed, the provider will update the Construction Training Register and you should automatically receive the grant payment within 28 days. Find out more information on the CITB Construction Skills Grant website.

ReAct Funding in Wales

For people resident in Wales who have been made redundant or under notice of redundancy in the last 3 months can claim up to £1500 of funding for training. To apply for the ReAct vocational training grant, Visit Careers Wales website for more on ReAct.

Charity and Voluntary Sectors

NEBOSH and the Charities Safety Group assist small charities and voluntary sector organisations by working with course providers who offer scholarships for the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. Visit the NEBOSH website for more information on this grant for charities.

Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service (ELCAS)

The Ministry of Defence - MOD’s Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) provides financial support for the UK Armed Forces' members and ex-members. If you are a serving member or a service leaver of the UK Armed Forces, dependent on your length of service, you can claim up to 80% of any NEBOSH Certificate and Diploma level course fees. ELC can only be used with course providers that are an approved and registered partner of ELCAS. If you are a UK Armed Forces' member, find out more about funds available and the qualifications eligible for Enhanced Learning Credits.
