The NEBOSH Diploma level is considered to be comparable to an Honours Degree standard. It is a vocational qualification however and cannot be referred to as a degree. In the UK, the NEBOSH Diploma is equivalent to SCQF Level 10, which is comparable to NQF/QCF Level 6 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The level of study is the same, with the main difference to a degree being the amount of time that it takes to complete. A typical Honours Degree will take around 3 to 4 years, full time to complete, whereas the NEBOSH Diploma requires a total of 477 hours and the good news is that you can achieve this degree standard vocational qualification within just over a year.

However, the NEBOSH Diploma can be studied remotely for example online or via distance learning with some course providers. It is similar to an Honours Degree which can be taken through the Open University at your own pace. This means that you can have ultimate flexibility in your studies and fit your learning around the other important things in your life at a pace that suits you.

Does the NEBOSH Diploma cost the same as a degree?

The good news is that the cost of the NEBOSH Diploma tends to be significantly lower than studying an Honours Degree. Tuition fees for full time university courses can run into tens of thousands of pounds. Prices for the NEBOSH Diploma, on the other hand, start as low as £1200. The Diploma therefore provides a high academic level of study for a fraction of the price of a traditional degree.
